AVESTAVAGNEN

Crane trailers for ATV

Avestavagnen offers two different types of trailers with hydraulic cranes for ATVs. These are offered in various packages with different equipment depending on your needs.

Ranger

Avestavagnen's Ranger series is our most sought-after crane trailer. It is suitable for both professional and private use.The chassis, on which all models in the series are built, has a double frame and an easy-to-climb hydraulically movable bogie. The cart is an excellent aid when cleaning forests in tough terrain and when you have to handle timber and windfall. All hoses are fully integrated and protected inside the construction and thanks to its smooth underside, the risk of getting stuck in difficult terrain is minimized.

  • Ranger
  • crane trailer
  • Chassis with frame steering and hydraulic movable bogie

The Ranger has a double frame chassis with a hydraulic movable bogie and electro-hydraulic frame steering. We have chosen to install frame steering on all our Ranger trailers because it makes the trailer so much more flexible and easy to maneuver. You can easily get between logs and rocks without getting stuck, provide very good flexibility in tight passages and good control when reversing. On the Ranger, the frame steering also gives you a better reach with the crane, as you can swing the trailer a full 65 cm closer to what you want to lift. You also get a greatly improved lifting power with an empty trailer. With the ATV as a counterweight, the risk of the trailer tipping over is reduced, giving you the opportunity to lift heavier logs with an empty cart.

An advantage of the frame steering being electro-hydraulic is that you can use it without having the trailer's engine running. All of our Ranger packages have a hydraulically movable bogie construction, which means that you can move the bogie under the chassis back and forth depending on the type of load you are driving and where the center of gravity of the load is.T he bogie is easily moved even with a full load and has an adjustability of 60 cm.

  • Drive

All Ranger trailers have a drive, which is a must when you want to transport heavy load in uneven terrain. We offer two different types of drive on the trailer, manual hydraulic drive, which is controlled manually with levers, or automatic hydraulic drive, which is controlled with buttons from the ATV handlebar. The automatic drive for the Ranger has a two-speed roller drive with a speed of 2 km/h at low gear and 4 km/h at high gear. With low gear, the trailer is twice as strong and can easily take you over ditches and up hills with a full load. The high gear is used for low ground friction and for longer transport where drive is needed. All wheels then drive regardless of the surface. Automatic drive means that the drive starts as soon as you release the ATV's brake. With the automatic button activated, the trailer continues to drive as soon as the ATV's brake light goes out. The drive is operated with two 200 cc drive motors that runs the drive rollers. The drive is activated by pushing the wheels together.

  • Crane Operation

The Ranger's standard package includes a 3.8 m crane, which is a good sturdy crane with a good reach. If you choose a Ranger with an extension, you get a reach of 4.8 m, which together with the frame control gives you a total reach of 5.45 meters. With Ranger's crane, you can lift 420 kg at 1.7 m and 260 kg at 3 m. However, the lifting power is very dependent on the lifting technique you use, as you can lift significantly heavier logs than 420 kg.

  • Valve Operation

By valve operation, we mean which type of valve package you choose for the trailer to control its functions. Via the valve package, you control the crane movements, i.e. crane rotation, bar, arm, extension, rotator for grapple/grapple bucket, grapple in/out and the support legs. Avestavagnen offers three different types of valve packages; multistick (linear lever package) one function per lever, 2-lever coordinate levers with more functions in each lever and 2-lever electric on/off with more functions in each lever and electrically controlled valves on top of the levers for easy operation of the extension and grapple functions.

  • Engine

Avestavagnen's Ranger packages contain three different types of engines Vanguard 6 hp (without electric start), Honda 6.5 hp with electric start and Honda 13 hp with electric start.T he 13 hp engine doubles the traction of the trailer drive and enables crane work at lower engine speeds. The Vanguard motor is a well-proven and long-lived motor that you start with ease with a pull cord. We recommend the Honda engine with electric start if you use your trailer frequently as it provides a smooth and fast start.

Forester

With Avestavagnen's Forester, you can easily and quickly transform your ATV into a flexible forest machine that is perfectly suited for your leisure work in the forest. The trailer is an excellent aid when clearing forest and when you handle timber and windfalls. Forester is available with different equipment to suit the different needs of our customers.

All packages have been developed after long experience of what our customers demand. We are happy to help you customize your trailer package if you have any special wishes or needs.

  • Forester
  • crane trailer
  • Chassis and frame steering

The Forester has a telescopic single-frame chassis and can be chosen with or without frame steering. The towbar can be adjusted by 62 cm, which increases the variation in the length of firewood you want to load. Frame steering is recommended if you drive in woods and tight terrain as it helps you move smoothly between logs and rocks without getting stuck. It also provides very good flexibility in tight passages and good control when reversing. The frame steering creates an improved reach with the crane because with the help of the Forester's frame steering you can swing the trailer a full 50 cm closer to what you want to lift. The frame steering also provides a greatly improved lifting force with an empty trailer. With the ATV as a counterweight, the risk of the cart tipping over is reduced, giving you the opportunity to lift heavier logs with an empty trailer.

  • Drive

Forester is available with or without hydraulic drive, and here it is the loads and the terrain that best determine what you should choose. If you take small loads at a time and work in a relatively flat terrain, you may not need drive on the trailer. But if you want to be able to get over ditches and through bumpy terrain with larger loads, we recommend hydraulic drive on your crane trailer. On the Forester, you can choose between two different types of drive functions, manual hydraulic drive, which is controlled manually with levers, or automatic hydraulic drive, which is controlled with buttons on the ATVs handlebar.  Automatic drive means that the drive starts as soon as you release the ATV's brake. With the automatic button activated, the trailer continues to drive as soon as the ATV's brake light goes out. The Forester is powered by two 160 cc drive motors that rotates the drive wheels. The drive is activated by lowering the drive wheels between the wheels.

  • Hydraulic Crane

Forester's standard package includes a crane with a reach of 3.4 m, which is sufficient for many users. The next step is the 3.4 m crane with a 0.8 m extension, giving you a reach of 4.2m which together with the frame steering gives you a total reach of 4.7m. The extension function allows you to work with the crane behind the trailer and increases thereby the flexibility as you do not have to move the around the carriage as often while loading. With the Forester's crane, you can lift 340 kg at 1.7 m and 170 kg at 3 m. However, the lifting power is very dependent on the lifting technique you use, as you can lift significantly heavier logs than 340 kg.

  • Crane Operation

By valve operation, we mean which type of valve package you choose for the trailer to control its functions. Via the valve package, you control the crane movements, i.e. crane rotation, bar, arm, extension, rotator for grapple/grapple bucket, grapple in/out and the support legs. Avestavagnen offers three different types of valve packages; multistick (linear lever package) one function per lever, 2-lever coordinate levers with more functions in each lever and 2-lever electric on/off with more functions in each lever and electrically controlled valves on top of the levers for easy operation of the extension and grapple functions.

  • Engine

The Forester crane trailer package includes two different types of engines; Vanguard 6 hp (without electric start) and Honda 6.5 hp with electric start. The Vanguard engine is a well-proven and long-lived motor that you start easy with a pull cord. We recommend the Honda engine with electric start if you use your trailer frequently as it provides a smooth and fast start.
